WHAT IS AN EMERGENCY?

emergency_dogContact your primary care veterinarian or come to the hospital immediately if you notice any of the following signs or symptoms in your pet:

  • Difficulty breathing, coughing or choking
  • Disorientation, weakness, seizures or collapse
  • Body temperature less than 99°F or over 104°F
  • Frequent vomiting and/or diarrhea or evidence of blood in vomit or stool
  • Blood in urine or straining to urinate
  • Suspected ingestion of foreign object or poison
  • Snake bite
  • Bloating (swollen, hard abdomen)
  • Trauma (car accident, dog fight, fall, laceration)
  • Fractured limbs, swelling of joints, lameness, or paralysis
  • Difficulties during labor
  • Over-heating (heat stroke) or hypothermia
  • Bleeding from the nose, mouth and/or any uncontrollable bleeding
